1997-98
The average national 9-month salary for faculty at
public two-year institutions was taken from the table "Average
Salaries of Full-Time Faculty Members, 1997-98" on page 29 of
The Chronicle of Higher Education Almanac, published August 28, 1998.
The Chronicle's source was the American Association of University
Professors.
The North Carolina Community College System average
was determined from table 6B: "North Carolina Community College
System Salary Rang4e and Distribution by Position of Full-Time College
Staff Employed 9 Month or More (Fiscal Year 1997-98," compiled
and published by The North Carolina Community College System headquarters
in Raleigh.
The NCCC System average was determined in the following
manner:
- The average monthly salaries of curriculum instructors in
College Transfer, General Education, Technical Education, and
Vocational Education were each multiplied by the number of instructors
listed for the respective categories.
- The four products of the above calculations were summed,
and the total was divided by the total number of instructors in
the combined four categories: 4051.
The NCCC System average was calculated by Ric Sexton,
Math Instructor at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, phone
919- 662-622-3423.
2005-06
The
average 9-month salary for community college faculty was taken from the
North Carolina Community College System 2006-2007 Consensus Budget
Request, April 4, 2006.
