NCCCFA Awards ScholarshipsMay 15, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NCCCFA Awards Scholarships Two North Carolina Community College Students have been awarded scholarships by the North Carolina Community College Faculty Association. Traci Davis, a Pitt Community College student, will receive the $1,000 scholarship to further her studies in biology. Tracy has a 4.0 average after 27 hours completed towards her A. S. degree. She plans to transfer to East Carolina University and major in Biology. The former software programmer hopes to earn her Masters’ Degree and continue her studies in Life Science. In addition to being a new mother, she is a member of numerous campus and community volunteer organizations, including the Gamma Beta Phi Honors Society, Hope Lodge Cancer volunteer agency, Ronald McDonald House, and others. Ashlee Watson, a first-year student at Johnston Community College, also receives a $1,000 scholarship. She has completed 12 hours of coursework with a 3.54 GPA. The high school valedictorian and class president plans to earn her Associate in Arts and transfer to a university to continue her studies in Interior Design and photography. Watson volunteers with Samaritan’s Purse as well as other community programs, and her many interests include dance and sign language. The NCCCFA, a statewide, non-profit organization of Community College faculty and friends, promotes excellence throughout the North Carolina Community College System. It awards scholarships annually to deserving community college students with excellent scholarship, community service, and demonstrated motivation to achieve higher education goals.
